Catch on the Hudson owned by chef Steve Lauterbach is already filling up on the weekends after a soft opening Dec. 27.
An official ribbon cutting ceremony and celebration takes place Saturday, Jan. 28 from 5-8 p.m. with the Rockland County Chamber of Commerce.
Lauterbach grew up in New City and is a 1986 graduate of the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park. He previously ran a restaurant at the same location called 16 Front St., along with partners.
"It's time to venture out on my own," he said on his website about opening Catch on the Hudson. "I will be utilizing some of my best methods developed over the years."
The restaurant specializes in seafood but features creative renditions of all types of cuisine.
Some unique offerings from the Small Plates menu include Chef Steve's Roast Beef and Rosemary Infused Goat Cheese Salad, which is made with cilantro oil, spicy arugula and toasted walnut dust. The Wild Mushroom Flan is watercress with sweet garlic cloves and porcini syrup.
There's also an extensive Dinner Menu featuring meals like Pan Roasted Red Snapper Filet, Chipotle Grilled Lamp Chops and Herb Roasted Filet Mignon.
Even the Dessert Menu has unique choices. The Peanut Butter Fudge Taco is made in a crisp almond shell. Butterscotch and chocolate ganache pop in the Banana Coconut Spring Roll
A gourmet Harvest Brunch is featured on Sundays, offering a wide variety of hot and cold, gourmet and traditional breakfast selections. Salmon is on the menu along with a winter vegetable and cheese frittata.
Satisfied diners are already Yelping their five-star reviews, saying the eatery has excellent food, generous portions, attentive service and a beautiful setting.
